Dr. Kim E. Chapman’s professional background encompasses 30 years of healthcare experience in a multitude of arenas. Primary areas of interest included acute care settings: ED, ICU, CCU and aeromedical flight nursing. Advancing from a staff role to that of charge nurse, clinical supervisor and directors of various departments, Dr. Chapman returned to academia to obtain her master’s in nursing. As a family nurse practitioner, many years were spent working in cardiology, child sexual abuse, emergency services, and medical-legal consulting. Dr. Chapman is licensed over twelve states and has worked in multiple hospital settings – ranging from critical access to level I trauma centers.
For over a decade, in addition to working with the Joint Commission as a hospital surveyor and with ACEN as a peer evaluator, Dr. Chapman continues to work in the emergency department as a practitioner, all while teaching has become a growing passion. Dr. Chapman has experience in many academic formats, brick and mortar, hybrid and online settings. This experience has led to a variety of positions in education working with pre-licensure, ADN, BSN, MSN, and DNP level students at multiple community, public, and private schools of higher learning.
Dr. Chapman is the curriculum director for the online nursing program as well as an assistant professor at Regis. She serves on many committees for the university and her most recent appointment includes membership on the Regis Institutional Review Board (IRB). In addition, to her academic responsibilities, Dr. Chapman will continue her clinical practice in the emergency room as a nurse practitioner bringing years of experience along with evidenced based practice into the classroom.
