In loving sympathy of Jason Behenna

The Regis College community mourns the loss of beloved Sports Information Director, Jason Behenna who passed away tragically on Tuesday, November 19, 2024.

 

Visitation and Memorial Services are scheduled for Sunday, November 24 from 12 p.m. - 4 p.m. at J.F. Ward Funeral Home, 772 Broadway, Everett, MA 02149. Limited on-street parking is available.

 

Donations are welcome in Jason's memory to the Dear Neighbor Fund as a tribute to his unwavering support for Regis students.

Congratulations to Jessica Vasquez, social work grad student and graduate resident director of College Hall, for receiving the Richard F. Stevens Outstanding Graduate Student Award for Massachusetts at this year's National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) regional conference held in Burlington, VT.

 

Kelly Brochu, EdD alum and assistant to the president for special projects, presented at the conference about her doctoral research, “Wearing Multiple Hats Towards the Graduation Cap: Navigating Role Conflict through a Master’s Degree in Higher Education.”

 

Break a leg to all the students performing in the production Legally Blonde: The Musical in collaboration with Lasell University. I'm looking forward to tonight's performance. You can also catch it this Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. in the FAC. Tickets at the door.

 

The Regis student-actors include Ashley Kang, Rebecca Lord, Kelli Urbatis, Isha Bhagat, Anna Grace Colodny, Riley DaSilva, Emily Hallahan, Moses Green, Sarah Brown, Juliette Lanier, Helen Brewer, Mary Quinn, Valerie Amicangioli, Marie Gabour-Henin, Davinity Smallwood, and Marsha Francois. The musical is directed by Julia Burke.

Jillian Wilson, online ABA program director and assistant professor, was featured in this Inside Higher Ed article based on her presentation on effective teaching practices at an ACUE webinar for 700-800 attendees. Jillian completed ACUE’s certification in Effective Teaching Practices alongside other Regis faculty members in 2022.

 

Kelly Brochu was featured in the Massachusetts Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (MASFAA) conference as a panelist for the presentation session, “Breaking Down Silos: Building Collaborative Relationships Across Student Services." She spoke to strategies for effective collaboration across departments and divisions of a higher education institution.

 

Congrats to Ryan Andrews, assistant professor in health & fitness students, for publishing a chapter in the book Cohabiting Earth: Seeking a Bright Future For All Life (Chapter 10 titled The Future of Food Production).

 

The Health and Fitness Studies department hosted the first of an annual in-person conference series titled Health and Fitness in the 21st Century: Challenges and Opportunities Facing the Field. The conference was an opportunity to bring together students, academics, and professionals working on an array of topics related to health and fitness, featuring two keynote speakers Jacob Bustad (Towson University) and Nicole Tichenor Blackstone (Tufts University) who presented on sport and recreation communities in the Chesapeake Bay watershed and sustainable diets and the food system. Thanks to all faculty, staff, and students who attended and organized the event, as well as the Virginia Pyne Kaneb Faculty Scholars Grant for providing financial support.

Intersession courses are intensive two-week learning experiences that cover the same content and maintain the same academic standards as courses offered during the 15-week semester. Courses are offered at undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels.
