Today was the final day of the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) site visit for our graduate nursing program. At the exit meeting this morning, the visitors were highly congratulatory and complimentary of the nursing leadership, faculty, staff, students, and programs. They also highly regarded the Regis hospitality during their visit.

Congratulations to Padmini Pillai '05 for being named a member of the 2024-2025 class of White House Fellows! Padmini is placed at the Social Security Administration. A biochemistry major, Padmini is an immunoengineer bridging the gap between discoveries in immunology and advances in biomaterial design to treat human disease. She has led a team at MIT developing a tumor-selective nanotherapy to eliminate hard-to-treat cancers. During the pandemic, Padmini was featured in several media outlets including CNBC, The Atlantic, and The New York Times to discuss vaccination, immunity, and the disproportionate impact of the pandemic on vulnerable communities.
It's always great to visit with undergraduate students at my Pizza with the President dinner and hear about their experiences inside and outside the classroom. I learn so much about what is on their minds and how Regis can help them fulfill their dreams.
Students in the 16-month Accelerated Nursing program hosted a health fair earlier this week in College Hall Foyer. As part of their Community Nursing course they chose teaching topics and developed an interactive teaching tool. Next week, students in the 24-month program, as well as direct entry master's students will host their community health fair. Stop by the Foyer to get your blood pressure and blood glucose checked, learn about the importance of physical activity, myths vs. facts about mental health, and more!
Members of the Pride Men's Basketball, Cross Country, and Track & Field teams volunteered at the 22nd anniversary running of the Brian Honan 5K. The race benefits the Brian J. Honan Charitable Fund which fosters local and national programs that support education, recreation, housing, and healthcare. With over 1,300 runners, the event would not have been the success that it was without the assistance of our student-athletes. Joe Walsh, GNAC Commissioner, tells me they were enthusiastic, eager to help and a joy to have involved.
The women's soccer team recognized MVPs - Most Valuable Professors - before a match a couple of weeks ago. Congratulations to Professors Ernie Collamati, Devin Cashman, Leslie Bishop, Jay Shuman, Kathleen Bombino, Emily Rumble, and Jennifer Krusinger for going above and beyond to positively impact our student-athletes’ experiences.
