In support of an enduring commitment to increase access to higher education opportunities for all, Regis College announced that it has joined The Common Application’s direct admission program which provides first-generation and low and middle-income students expedited application and acceptance opportunities.

The Common App describes itself as a resource that “simplifies the college application process, allowing students to apply to more than 1,000 schools through one application.”

“Education remains the single greatest equalizer as it relates to opportunity and future success for students and graduates” said Regis College President Antoinette Hays, RN, PhD. “Colleges and universities across the country offer degrees, but only Regis offers students the transformative opportunity to build their character and confidence in preparation for a life and career of meaning. At Regis, students acquire the knowledge and experience they need to make an impact in their chosen profession and communities. This partnership renewal with The Common App will enable the university to build upon its nearly century-long commitment to provide students opportunities for upward social mobility and formation as compassionate leaders.”

The Common App has piloted a direct admissions program since 2021, offering admission to students who created a Common App account and provided enough academic information, but had not yet completed all their open applications. Under this program, students may receive a conditional acceptance even if they have not completed their full application. The organization launched its full-scale program last year, offering over 400,000 first-generation and low-income students direct admissions to 71 colleges and universities.

“We are excited for Regis College to continue in our direct admission program, where even more students will now know that they are worthy and wanted on a college campus,” said Jenny Rickard, President & CEO of Common App. “Overall, direct admission is about changing the narrative of a college education from one of scarcity to one of opportunity, by ensuring students know that they are worthy and welcome on a college campus.”

According to The Common App, results showed that three out of four students who added a school to their college list upon receiving a direct admission offer applied to that school.
