Regis College announces the establishment of The Marcella Driscoll Scholarship which aims to support students at the university with financial need, particularly those studying social work or mental health through Regis’ psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner track or online masters of social work program. The scholarship was founded by Dawn-Marie Driscoll ’68 in honor of her late sister, Marcella.

Marcella was known for her brilliance, humor, and outgoing nature, but faced significant challenges due to lifelong mental health illnesses. With the support of social workers and mental health professionals, Marcella was ultimately able to receive the care and guidance she needed to live her best life.

The Thursday, September 26 announcement on the Regis campus was a surprise for Marcella’s longtime care managers, Susan Allen and Danielle Lubin, to whom the scholarship is dedicated. Both individuals provided comprehensive services for Marcella through Your Elder Experts, a program of Jewish Family and Children’s Services. Their compassionate care provided Marcella with many joyful years, exemplifying the patience and dedication that this scholarship seeks to honor. Through this scholarship, Regis students will be inspired to follow in their footsteps and provide support to others facing similar challenges.

As an endowed scholarship, Marcella’s legacy will live on perpetually, helping future generations of Regis students for years to come.

“For many students, this scholarship will be the key that turns the dream of a college degree into a reality,” says Vice President of Institutional Advancement Staci Shea. “This scholarship support is essential to sustaining Regis’ mission of providing access to higher education for students of all backgrounds and ensuring their success for generations to come, and we are so grateful to Dawn-Marie for this incredible gift.”
