NursePractitionerOnline.com, a resource for nurse practitioner education and professional development, has ranked Regis College’s Online Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) program the second-best in the United States for 2025. The recognition reflects the university’s enduring commitment to academic excellence in online education and a dedication to addressing the nationwide nursing shortage.
“The students and faculty of the Young School of Nursing are proud of this national recognition for our Online Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner program,” said Carol A. Donovan Endowed Interim Dean of Nursing Sharon Higgins, G'11, DNP '23, NP-C, ONC, WCC. “The graduate nursing program at Regis develops leaders in women’s health who are prepared to provide healthcare with compassion, skill, and an understanding of women’s unique healthcare needs. As the healthcare system in the United States struggles to meet such needs due to a nursing shortage, Regis is proud of the 1,500 nurses it has graduated in the last three years.”
The WHNP program prepares students to address complex health issues affecting women from preadolescence through menopause. The curriculum provides flexibility for working professionals and the program integrates rigorous coursework, expert faculty mentorship, and extensive clinical training.
The ranking by NursePractitionerOnline.com cited that the Regis program is, “rooted in the college's philosophy of promoting holistic health and wellness for women through evidence-based practices and compassionate care” and “graduates from these programs are equipped with the knowledge and skills to provide comprehensive care for women across the lifespan.”
According to NursePractitionerOnline.com, the ranking was scored using a points system assessing: diversity of nurse practitioner programs offered; accreditation status; years of experience/tenure of faculty; annual tuition/fees in relation to the local cost of living; size of the institution’s nursing department; acceptance rate & competitiveness of the institution; and graduation/completion rates.
