Regis College announced that it will continue the Mount Ida dental hygiene program once the institution closes its doors this spring. The pending agreement provides a path for former Mount Ida College students to complete their degrees and achieve their academic goals.
The university reached the pending agreement with Mount Ida and the University of Massachusetts (UMass) to continue the entire dental hygiene program including the pre-dental hygiene program, the associate's degree program, and the bachelor's degree program.
The pending agreement is contingent on regulatory approval including the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) and on UMass and Mount Ida closing their pending property and asset transaction.
“We are delighted to be able to continue these superb programs as part of Regis’ portfolio of health science programs,” said Antoinette Hays, PhD, RN, president of Regis College. “We are grateful to UMass for allowing us to use the Mount Ida campus facilities for the next academic year and we look forward to welcoming Mount Ida students, faculty and staff.”
Under the pending agreement, dental hygiene courses and clinics will remain on the Mount Ida campus for the 2018-19 academic year and the public dental clinic will continue to operate. Beginning in the fall of 2019, the dental hygiene program will be operated entirely on the Regis College campus.
Student housing will be provided with shuttle service to classes. In addition, pre-dental hygiene courses for first-year students will be offered on the main Regis campus beginning this fall.
Current Mount Ida students in the dental hygiene program, admitted Mount Ida dental hygiene students in the class of 2022, and interested first-year students, are invited to attend an informational session on Wednesday, May 16 at 5 p.m. on Regis’ beautiful Weston campus.
